Hyper Light Breaker Character Guide: Unlockables and Playstyles
Hyper Light Breaker offers a diverse roster of characters, each with unique playstyles. This guide details how to unlock new Breakers and provides an overview of their abilities. Note that this guide reflects the early access version, and the unlock process may change in future updates.
How to Unlock New Characters
To unlock new characters, you need Abyss Stones. These are dropped by Crowns (bosses). To reach the Crowns, you must first locate Prisms (indicated by golden diamond icons on the map). These Prisms act as keys to boss arenas. After defeating a Crown, return to the Cursed Outpost teleporter and select the Breaker you wish to unlock. Use your Abyss Stones to acquire the character. Currently, only two characters are unlockable via this method.
All Characters and Their SyComs
Each Breaker starts with a SyCom, determining their base stats and core perk, shaping their playstyle.
Vermillion:
Begins with the Gunslinger SyCom, favoring ranged combat with critical hit chaining. His unlockable Tank SyCom boosts armor on perfect parries, offering superior defense and melee capabilities.
Lapis:
Starts with the Lightweaver SyCom, enhancing Rail shot damage after Battery pickups. Her unlockable Warrior SyCom increases core stats with each upgrade, making her exceptionally powerful late-game.
Goro:
A ranged character with the Astrologer SyCom, speeding up Blade skill charging while shooting. His unlockable Sniper SyCom increases critical hit rate, transforming him into a high-risk, high-reward glass cannon.
