The Voodoo Doll is considered one of the safer Cursed Possessions in Phasmophobia due to its favorable risk-reward ratio. Despite changes in the game's updates, it remains a valuable asset for ghost hunters.

The primary function of the Voodoo Doll is to provoke the ghost into performing evidence-related actions. This is achieved by inserting pins into the doll, one at a time. It's particularly useful when dealing with a ghost that's being uncooperative or silent, as it can force the ghost to reveal crucial evidence like EMF5 readings or Ultraviolet prints.

There are 10 pins available to insert into the doll, each triggering a ghost action but also carrying risks. Each pin inserted reduces the user's sanity by 5%. Inserting all 10 pins could drain up to 50% of your sanity, significantly increasing the likelihood of a ghost hunt.

The most significant risk is associated with the pin located in the doll's heart. Inserting pins is a random process, and if you happen to hit the heart pin, it will instantly reduce your sanity by 10% and trigger a Cursed Hunt. During a Cursed Hunt, the ghost will spawn near your location and pursue you for an extended period, 20 seconds longer than a normal hunt.

Despite these risks, the Voodoo Doll can be a game-changer in gathering evidence, provided you're well-prepared and cautious.

Cursed Possessions, often referred to as "Cursed Objects," are unique items in Phasmophobia that can randomly appear on any map, influenced by difficulty settings or Challenge Mode.

Unlike regular equipment, which helps locate ghosts and gather evidence with minimal risk, Cursed Objects offer shortcuts to manipulate ghost behavior but at a much higher risk to your character. The decision to use these items lies with you and your team, and there's no penalty for choosing not to use them. Only one Cursed Possession will spawn per contract, unless modified in Custom settings.

There are seven different Cursed Objects available in the game:

  • Haunted Mirror
  • Voodoo Doll
  • Music Box
  • Tarot Cards
  • Ouija Board
  • Monkey Paw
  • Summoning Circle
