Palworld Boss Says Switch Port Improbable Due to Technical ReasonsDevs Pocketpair Has Nothing Concrete to Announce Yet
In a recent interview with Game File, Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe offered insights on the difficulties of adapting Palworld for the Nintendo Switch and alluded to the game's future expansions. While not dismissing a Switch version outright, Mizobe voiced concerns about technical hurdles. Discussions are ongoing about "new platforms" for Palworld's release, but Pocketpair has no announcements at this time, as stated by Mizobe.
Despite the game's demanding PC requirements making a Switch port difficult, Mizobe remained positive about broadening the game's accessibility. Earlier this month, he remarked, concerning a Switch port, "Palworld’s specs on PC are higher than the Switch’s specs. So maybe it’s hard to port to Switch just for technical reasons."
Regarding future platform availability, Mizobe hasn't specified if Palworld might launch on PlayStation, Nintendo, or mobile platforms. In a Bloomberg interview earlier this year, Mizobe confirmed that Pocketpair is negotiating to bring the game to more platforms. Furthermore, Mizobe indicated the company is receptive to partnership or acquisition proposals but hasn't engaged in acquisition discussions with Microsoft.
Wants Palworld to Have More 'Ark' or 'Rust' Elements
In addition to platform discussions, Mizobe unveiled aspirations for the game's multiplayer functionalities. The forthcoming arena mode, which the Palworld head characterized as "something of an experiment," prepares the ground for further multiplayer encounters in the game. "My aspiration is to realize a genuine PvP mode in Palworld," Mizobe stated. "I envision more of the Ark or Rust style."Ark and Rust are both well-liked survival games that boast demanding environments, intricate resource management systems, and extensive player interactions encompassing alliance and tribe formation. Both games provide a blend of PvE and PvP components. In ARK, players must grapple with perilous wildlife, including dinosaurs and other prehistoric beings, as well as environmental hardships such as extreme weather and natural calamities. Rust presents comparable environmental difficulties, including wildlife and radiation zones.
