Heroes of the Storm is set to reignite the excitement of its community with the return of the beloved Heroes Brawl, now reimagined as Brawl Mode. This revamped game mode brings back dozens of discontinued maps, offering players unique challenges not seen in almost five years. Brawl Mode is currently available for testing on the Heroes of the Storm Public Test Realm (PTR) and is slated to officially return in about a month when the next patch goes live.
Originally introduced as Arena Mode in 2016, Heroes Brawl captivated players with its weekly rotating challenges and drastic gameplay changes. Inspired by Hearthstone's Tavern Brawls, these events featured everything from all-Nova sniper duels to action-packed Arena versions of classic battlefields and the thrilling Escape from Braxis PvE mission. However, due to the popularity of single-lane maps and the challenges of maintaining the mode, Heroes Brawl was replaced by ARAM in 2020. Now, fans can look forward to the return of their favorite Brawls, with the possibility of new ones being introduced.
Brawl Mode will rotate every two weeks, specifically on the 1st and 15th of each month, offering players a chance to earn a special chest by participating in three games during each active period. The specifics on how often players can earn this reward are still under wraps, but with over two dozen past Brawls, there's a lot to look forward to.
The first Brawl Mode available for testing on the PTR is the holiday-themed Snow Brawl. Given the PTR's current duration of three weeks, it seems likely that Brawl Mode will officially kick off in early February.
This revival of Brawl Mode comes at a significant time, as June 2, 2025, marks the 10-year anniversary of Heroes of the Storm. The return of Heroes Brawl is a major win for fans and could signal further developments or even an official revival of the Blizzard MOBA.
