Elden Ring: Nightreign will omit the in-game messaging feature previously seen in other FromSoftware titles. Project director Junya Ishizaki explained this decision in a recent interview, citing the game's shorter play sessions. Nightreign's approximately forty-minute gameplay sessions leave insufficient time for players to write or read messages.
"Given the roughly forty-minute session length, there's not enough time to send or check messages; hence, we removed the feature," Ishizaki stated.
This choice is noteworthy, as player messaging has been a significant element in FromSoftware's past games, enhancing player interaction and enjoyment. However, the development team deemed the feature unsuitable for Nightreign's design.
To preserve the integrity of the original Elden Ring, Nightreign features a separate narrative. The game offers a fresh adventure, introducing new challenges and encounters while retaining the signature atmosphere and complex world design of Elden Ring.
